Varkala Culture

In the same manner as the other destinations of Kerala, the cultural scene of Varkala has also been unaffected by foreign invasion by several dynasties. All this can be seen in the temples and various other structures of this town. The people of Varkala are simple and like to spend a peaceful low-profile life, but they are extremely helpful. They are so staunch preservers of their traditional arts, culture and tradition that they like to transfer to their generations as well.

Festivals and Events in Varkala

Economy

Varkala is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the south Indian state of Kerala. This seaside town boasts of excellent telecommunication facilities, a number of post offices, a police station, a fire station and a standard-rated water supply system. The town also has to offer ample medical facilities to its residents. There is also a government-managed nature cure hospital, near the Papanasam cliff and a District Ayurvedic Hospital too. It will not be wrong to say that Varkala is a newly found tourist destination but it is now a preferred destination for those who like being in seclusion. This town lies in close proximity to other destinations such as Kilimanoor, Attingal, Chirayinkeezhu, Paravur, Kadakkavur and Kallambalam.
