Cherai Beach

Cherai Beach is one of the most visited beaches present in the Ernakulam district in Kerala. This majestic beach lies at the boarder of the Vypeen Island and Bolghatty Island. Situated at a distance of 26 km from the Ernakulam city, the beach is titled and features among the best beaches present in this region. A large number of tourists from all corners of the world visit this place for a memorable vacation.

Cherai beach surroundings feature a unique combination of the tranquil backwaters and azure sea which are flanked by lush green foliage. The majestic backwaters present around the sea are formed with a combination of lagoons, canals, lakes and estuaries. The 15 km beach stretch of this golden beach in Kerala is shallow and very clean which ideal for surfing sunbathing and swimming. The way leading to the beach is beautified by installing high mask lamps. The beach is patrolled round-the-clock by the well trained security staff which also provide the tourists about the high tide and low tide condition. The presence of these security personnels make the visiting beach safe in any time and for all age groups.

The shimmering golden sand of the Cherai beach is studded with seashells of various colors and shapes. In close vicinity of the beach lies children park where tiny tots can enjoy fun rides on water scooters and speed boats which are easily available on hire. The sights dolphins frolicking in the sea can be enjoyed occasionally. Dolphins will spring out and dive back into the azure water. The sight of the Chinese Fishing Nets at the far ends of the beach adds to the scenic beauty of the beach.  In the month of December the Cherai Beach is frequented by many travelers to attend the five-day tourism festival called Cherai Beach Tourism Mela. During this festive celebration cultural shows and traditional art forms performances like Kathakali are held on this occasion.
