Devikulam Travel Guide


Devikulam is a small hill station located in the Idukki district of the state of Kerala. This hill station is very famous among the tourists for the placid Sita Devi Lake. Located at a distance of 16 kms from Munnar, the various local tales are associated with this majestic lake. It is believed that Goddess Sita bathed in this lake. Many pilgrims frequent this place for the religious beliefs. Devikulam is surrounded  by the lush green hills and features great scenic  beauty. A large number of tourists throng this place from the lowlands to escape from the scorching heat of the sun. The Palivasal Waterfall makes for a nice picnic spot, enjoy watching the water cascading down dramatically and having a tranquil and soothing effect on the visitors. 


How To Reach Devikulam


By Air

The nearest airport to reach Devikulam is the Kochi airport. The Kochi airport lies at a convenient distance of 150 kms from the Devikulam. Frequent flights are available to reach the Kochi airport from all major parts of India. On arriving at the Kochi airport one can hire a taxi or board a bus to reach the center of Devikulam.

By Train

Those who plan to reach Devikulam through train can board a train to either Kochi or Kottayam town. Both the cities lie at a convenient distance of 149 kms and 132 kms respectively from Devikulam. Frequent train from all prominent cities are available to reach Kochi and Kottaym. After reaching Kochi or Kottaym disembark from the train and reach Devikulam either by hiring a taxi or boarding a private bus.

By Road

Reaching Devikulam is hassle free since a large number of state transport buses are available to reach Devikulam from both Kottyam and Kochi. The bus journey is generally as it is difficult to drive of steep slopes and requires a lot of undivided attention. Though traveling through bus is not going to be the comfortable way to reach Devikulam but it is surely one of the reasonable ways of reaching this hill station.
