Chinese Fishing Nets make for an exclusive visit for the tourists. The 10 meter high structure is lined on the northern shore of Fort Cochin making it the single most familiar photographic images of Kerala. This unique mechanism of fishing was introduced by the traders from the court of Kublai Khan. The nets are allowed to rest in the water for a brief time of four to five minutes before being raised by the use of being raised up by tugging ropes. One can buy fresh fishes from the tiny market and get them grilled on the spot at one of the ramshackle stalls.
