Kappad Travel Guide


Kappad is a historic beach town where the Portuguese traveler Vasco-da-Gama landed on reaching India for the first time. The beach is set along the Konkan coast and features a small monument made from stone with an inscription that reads, Vasco-da-Gama landed here in 1498. The clean and scenic surroundings of the beach attract a large number of tourists from all corners of the world. Kappad Beach is the main tourist attraction of the town to rest and relax while admiring the natural beauty sprinkled around its pristine Shoreline. The stretch of the beach is called the Kappakadavu which is dotted with a large number of rocks and the yellow color sand. The various fishing villages located along the beach coasts are a must visit, to enjoy a close quarter look into the rustic lifestyle of the village along with enjoying delicious local cuisine.

How To Reach Kappad


By Air

The closest airport is located in Kozhikode, that lies at a convenient distance of 45 kms from the town of Kappad. Frequent flights are available to the Kozhikode airport from all the major parts of the country. On arriving at the airport one can hire a taxi to reach the center of the Kappad town.

By Train

Those who wish to reach Kappad by train can board a train to reach Kozhikode. The Kozhikode railway station is the nearest railway station located at a distance of 16 kms away from the Kappad town. Frequent trains are available from all corners of the country to reach the center of the town. Auto Rickshaws and private taxis can be hired to reach the heart of Kappad. 

By Road

The breathtaking Landscapes of Kappad beach town can also be accessed by road route. A large number of KSRTC buses depart from the central Terminus of the Kozhikode. There is also a large number of buses plying between the various major cities of Kerala state. Buses are the cheapest and convenient  mode of commutation.
