Kottakunnu is a ruined fort, located at the base of Cantonment hill, is very famous among the tourists. The inner part of this ruined fort comprises of Vettakkorumakan and Shiva temple. The Kottakunnu Fort was commissioned by the Zamorins of Kozhikode. Presently, the District Tourism Promotion Councils are planning to transform it into a beautiful park and also planning to establish a stadium in its close vicinity. To reach this ancient site, the tourist can also make use of helicopters, as this majestic site also possesses a helipad. The temples, located in this ruined fort, are renowned for featuring murals of Malabar. The travelers must also visit the art gallery present inside the fort that showcases various artistic works of trained artisans along with tribes.
